A Baby Layette for Little Girl

A Baby Layette Gift:
I spent the better part of my free time over the last December and January making a baby layette gift for our friends who are having their first girl after 3 boys!  I ordered a ton of yarn, more than I ended up using, so I made lots of little "extras" to go along with the blanket.

Here's what's in my layette gift (just click the titles for the links):

Self-learn to knit. Can someone throw me a lifeline?!

The Toddler Bolero (finished)!

I've decided to teach myself how to knit.  This is huge since I really like to crochet, but there are quite a few fun knit patterns I've seen on Ravelry that I'd like to make.  So I decided to start with the following pattern: http://cherylsknitting.blogspot.com/2011/06/lace-rib-bolero-toddler.html
It's a toddler bolero for my 1+ year old.  I don't recommend it as a first time project as I had to start it over 6 times before I finally got the hang of what I was doing.  Then I dropped a stitch and had to figure out how to 'save' the inch of labored knitting I had already completed.  SO, here are my recommendations for new knitters with links to websites and videos that helped me.
